98: I am not "white"
A comment I made about the last "lockdown journal" which was, I think, #94.
Totally true, SF's "lockdown" was never as harsh as some.
The US response has been all over the map. National leadership just wants it to go away.
Meanwhile, SF's response, while not as harsh as Italy or France in terms of movement in shelter-in-place, is actually more aggressive than most places in Europe, in terms of where we were on the curve when we "locked down", and where we are now.
(For reference, we locked down about ten days after Rome, but my buddy who lives there was able to get a haircut weeks ago, when our stylists won't be open til next week.)
The result? Well, I guess we'll see long term. So far, California's curve looks very different than other places in the US. And the US curve looks sadly about like dear leader's backside, if he was lying on his stomach breathing thru a ventilator.
How is it going here? Here are documented infection rates from a month ago:
And from this week:
Hmmm... Gives sad new meaning to the idea that southern California is the "red" part of the state.
Out of 58 counties, we've now had seven health officers resign due to threats of violence.
About that superspreader event...
That's true, they don't.
And how's it going in Sweden?
10 million people, five thousand deaths, and now they are the pariah of Europe, not allowed into other countries.
(For reference, both NYC and LA have about the same total population. NYC has had 30k deaths, and LA 3k. And US citizens are currently not allowed into the EU either.)

This tweet seemed exaggerated. So I looked for another source.
Can you say voter suppression? Senator Turtle really likes being in charge.
My Saturday "sailstice" outing made it into Latitude 38 magazine.
1. I am not "white." That is a racist term. We all have pigment of some variety.
2. I am a racist. I have used the term "white" to describe myself, see #1 above. The people I surround myself with are not as diverse as the city I live in.
3. I am working on it. It was never intentional. I never set out to be a "racist." I grew up in almost complete segregation. I have made deliberate attempts to mix up my life, for decades. It's easy to point fingers. Now I'm pointing at myself.
