118 "not a great look, America"
Didn't take any selfies yesterday, so you get this old picture. It's weird, this daily taking of a selfie, but for whatever reason the algorithms (or you, or all of us, or the Singularity) like it better when there's fresh faced content at the top of this blog.
Well, unfortunately, it's looking like the old "Coronavirus Lockdown Journal" title might be making a comeback.
Expanded testing is perhaps making Florida in July look worse than NYC in March. It was pretty hard to get a test back in March and April, so many of New York's previous record high eleven thousand cases per day were people who were already in bad shape. Perhaps.
As we all know, the case numbers today are indicative of becoming a much more somber statistic in about three weeks.
And yet, the pressure is still on to act like it's the old days...
But there's one little problem...
People keep getting sick. From what I can understand, kids getting sick isn't the biggest concern about schools reopening. It's teachers and relatives at home. But, apparently, in the minds of our leadership, those people don't exist.
This isn't quite accurate, but you get the point. It might not kill you, but that doesn't mean someone isn't going to die... And it might be you.
What, exactly, is a "Covid party"?
Oh. It's one of these gatherings with someone you know has COV-2. Hey guys, my step-mother-in-law just spent a week in the ICU. Without that care, I don't want to think about what might have happened. She was relatively fit and healthy when she got sick. THIS SHIT IS REAL.
And let me play translator here for a minute:
"Science is an evolution of knowledge. And if you don't believe in evolution, you probably didn't bother to read this."
Well, I don't know if Joe Biden's campaign strategy is to lay low while 45 shoots himself in the foot, or if that's just what is happening, but it seems like as good an idea as any. (Well, ok, taking up the mantle of a proper progressive movement would be nice, but we've already seen twice the DNC isn't really interested in that.)
"The more things are forbidden, the more popular they become." -Mark Twain
The scourge of so-called "white-on-white" violence has taken over this small, totally average rust-belt town. It started with a simple local get together to support Black Lives Matter.
At first, the peaceful protestors wondered where these gun-wielding thugs came from.
Because they weren't locals.
But then...
"Wait, Wendy? Oh my god! You're a racist?"
Not a great look, America.
