124 the cracks in our foundations

Neowise continues to elude me. No new wisdom for me?!?

Last night we set off after dark for a high spot with a northwest outlook. But we live right on the edge of the fog line, and after a couple blocks we realized we were walking into the fog.

So we looked at the clear side of the city, and saw Potrero Hill looked fog free. We drove over there, and to the northwest, we had a spectacular view of...fog.

Why Portland?

Sustained protest scene. Smallish city without a big media presence. Zero chance they'll be voting for dear leader.

We're now in the era of swing states and scapegoat states.

Remember that always-on domestic surveillance apparatus created by the totally-couldn't-be-fascist-this-is-all-about-patriotism-#43?

But hey, don't take my word for it. How about a US Senator? Here's what Jeff Merkley had to say:

And here's what Heather Cox Richardson (my vote for the pandemic nightly news anchor) has to say:

The recent US-backed Syrian civil war started with an out-of-scale response by federal agents against a kid spray painting a slogan.

Say their name: PACT. Police acting crazy, truth!

So they want to start shit cross-country. Yay.

At least when Obama used the DHS to shut down the Occupy protest movement, he had the courtesy to secretly coordinate with local law enforcement before swooping in to arrest the pre-surveilled influencers in the crowd.

And more news from Florida.

That's a lot of first wave right there. The county where our in-laws live isn't even in the top twelve.

And apparently I should be paying more attention to California. San Francisco was put onto the state's watch list this week, with multiple 100+ cases per 100,000 days this week. And the average age of people in the hospital with Covid-19 in the city? 41.

Orange County might be better named "red county" but actually, thinking about it, orange is just fine.

This dancing actually happened a couple days ago.
Even boarded up and to-go, apparently Zuni Cafe still has cache.

At top, Deb met up with a friend in the backyard. Below is the bouquet she harvested.
