141 the masked and the restless

Today we lead with bagels.

These are my first attempt, ever. The yeast came from the starter I got going four and a half months ago, at the beginning of lockdown.

Mainly I've been making pizza. Since Deb is largely gluten free, if I make bread I pretty much have to eat it myself. But who can say no to pizza?

It took a full day to rise, and I could have included salt in the dough, but they did have that bagel crunch and chew.

Yeah, this may happen again.

What else?

The signs around town are getting a little more nuanced.

Honestly, I'm surprised gatherings of twelve people inside a house are allowed, especially if we're getting so granular that "masks with valves are not allowed."

Personally, anecdotally, I'm not going to any indoor parties. Not even three people. I've been inside many people's homes at this point, but probably none for more than five minutes, and always masked.

Why? Am I afraid of getting sick? Sure, who wants to get sick? But no, it's because if we're going to get a handle on this, we all have to play along.

Of course, there's the whole "spectrum of awareness" to deal with.

One man's Saturday in the park is another man's superspeader event.

So much depends on perspective.

Like, a zoom lens.

Or a Friday night in what seems to be the city's rebounding night life hot spot.

Honestly, reading this really made want to go see the scene.

Meanwhile, in South Dakota.

Fake news! There is a mask!

(Maybe.)

And based on this report, I'm thinking about sailing over to listen to a Giants game this weekend.

Now a little following the money.

Our incumbent state senator has about $800k in his campaign fund.

Including from our neighborhood's notoriously lamest landlord.

And mostly other large donors.

Meanwhile, in the progressive corner.

And how is that real estate industry holding up in the pandemic?

Uh oh. Unless, of course, you're a deep pockets buyer.

But apparently this one isn't just about people losing homes. It's people fleeing?

Yeah, I watched that Axios video, until I fell asleep. You can't bullshit a bullshitter.
