will 147 come up crickets?

At top, this little audience-in-a-can device from Archie McPhee  is going viral thanks to video calls and livestreaming. We got ours from Deb's sister a couple years ago, and since we've been adding applause to our weekly "very important phone call," she has ordered one for herself, and a couple more to give away. Then I see Sam Chase got one for his weekly Friday 3pm fblives, of course totally unrelated to ours.

It's weird how things spread.

Speaking of how things spread...

At first, Cov2 was spreading in nursing homes. (Of the five people I personally know who have had it, four got it through contact with an assisted living facility.)

Things got a little wonky with the Cov2 data in California recently.

And someone had to take the fall.

He said "the buck stops with me," but obviously, he's not going to resign, right?

How about I just give you this buck back right now?

American exceptionalism 2.0.

Sounds like he heard about Bernie's tax the billionaires plan. "You want to take my money for WHAT?!?"

Since our numbers are obviously messed up, nationally and locally, I'm now going to share some important numbers I've gleaned from all of this

(Remember, I am not an expert. Consult a real expert before you take my advice, and don't blame me if I'm wrong.)

This is how long it might take just being in the same space with someone who has the virus, for them to give it to you. No droplets, no touching, just being in the same room and breathing the same air for 5 minutes.

This is how long it might be before you notice you have symptoms. For 2 or 3 of those days, you're contagious.

This is how long after the onset of symptoms, on average, people going to the hospital make it at home. Of the five people I know who have caught Covid-19, two went to the hospital. (The oldest two.)

This is how long the average person who dies makes it after the onset of symptoms. So far, my father-in-law is beating this by a couple weeks. I haven't been talking about his case because it's too close and too dramatic and too unknown and too painful and too scary, but he's been intubated for two weeks now. There have been moments of hope, and moments of despair. Currently, we're hopeful.

That annoyingly certain celebrity talent judge who crashed an ebike was actually riding this.

A 20kw motor good for 19hp and over 150ftlb of torque.

I guess it's a bit much to handle.

Electric bikes are awesome.

And while we're on personal obsessions, I'm learning more about the state of the VR market.

Where Samsung has already been adding VR "gear" to their top end phone for a couple years.

And developers are working in a landscape of multiple evolving platforms, the most basic of which only has one button. (But hovering and head gestures add more possibilities.)

Considering I can't get my phone to pair up and play music in the kitchen without running the Spanish Inquisition on every other device in the house, I can see why.

And now, back to bashing my head against the wall.

For the record, I would like to point out there has been considerable lying to us happening here for quite some time. Remember Iraq? The 2008 bank bailout? They were just better liars.

There were no WMD, it was about oil, and making sure the international trade in oil is conducted using US dollars instead of the Euro.

It wasn't a mortgage crisis, it was running up bad debts then selling them to Germany, again, to sandbag the Euro.

Remember "trickle down economics?" Totally not a lie at all, right?

The problem with dear leader is his lies are like, schoolyard obvious. "I'm the smartest person ever."

Duh.

But he didn't do this to us. He just enjoyed the ride on our backs.

He did, however, do this:

The masked PG&E inspector who came by our building yesterday coughed several times. I let him into the basement, then let him let himself out.

Oh yeah, remember that crowded school picture in Georgia last week?

Open five days. Now closed for two.

Future uncertain.

(Also, the student who took and shared that picture was suspended. Then there was an uproar, and she was let back into school. Then...)
