149 symptoms vs. problems

Another Wednesday walk to the farmer's market.

Bicycle traffic is up a bit. Pedestrian traffic maybe too. Car traffic still has a high mix of pickup trucks.

Starbucks, which started the pandemic with asking customers to order online and then pickup at this door, then had their windows smashed, is back to allowing customers inside.

So what do they do? In San Francisco, where so many businesses leave their doors open all winter long, so you know they're open, this Starbucks (and Safeway) is keeping it's door closed. And it's not even an automatic door, everyone going in and out of the store has to touch it.

Hello, air circulation and not touching shared surfaces?

A guy yelled at me for taking this picture, and said it wasn't allowed. Hey, I can see why you don't want a picture taken if you live here or it's your job to protect the place, but, uh, yeah, no, I'm pretty sure it's legal for me to take a picture outside, even over a privacy fence.

Speaking of claiming space, this is just one of many mini-camps along Market Street. I took this picture because, despite the ramshackle junky appearance, these two guys had a little living room set up, with a comfy chair, a side table, and framed pictures.

Houseless people are not the problem. They are a symptom of the problem.

What is the problem?

These two were kinda cute. It's funny to hear from the "mover and shaker" crowd, who see this gorgeous city as a mere stop on their climb to...Palo Alto.

I just sort of appreciated their honesty-ish. Houseless comes in many styles.

People have been coming up with positives about Kamala Harris. Read nice pieces from  Tim Redmond at 48 Hills to Michael Moore...

Dear leader of course had another take.

Half of America is very, very happy with their health insurance? Are you?

(I am. I have socialized health care.)

That doesn't take much. Personally, I've voted for her every chance I've had, from DA to Attorney General to Senator. Why? Because Tim Redmond told me to. And it's fun to back a winning horse.

Still...

And yet...

Summer of 2018, last time I saw my mom, I said Kamala would be our next president. I don't have a crystal ball, but...

A couple days after lockdown started, we walked by this place and I was amazed how quickly they had pivoted to selling toilet paper.

There are other realities, too. Don't blame yourself, seriously.

About 1500 yesterday.

I'm sorry for putting this in your head.

Minimalism is one of the hardest "isms" to pull off.
