150 "K" is the new "V"
This isn't going to be pretty.
Let's start here, with death.
It's looking like the death toll of Cov2 is about 60k more than has been reported. So instead of 160k, it's more like 220k. This is based on the number of excess deaths the country has seen, compared to a normal year.
For a closer look at all that dying, let's look at the blog of our ER doctor friend, Mamadok.
Guys, I can't even tell you how fucking smart this woman is, and how fucking realistic, and what an idiot this state shmuck must have been.
Honestly, remember this outfit?
This is what you wear when you're creative and don't want to die, when your ER has become an ICU in the hardest hit area of the state.
And who pays?
Again, who pays?
Doctor's shouldn't necessarily be worrying about the $4000/week cost of Remdesivir, but they sure as hell should be thinking about whether the crap works. And the reality is, 80% of people getting tubed are not going to make it. And according to the limited data I've seen Remdesivir *may* help one third of recovering patients recover a couple days earlier.
In other words, 8 out of 10 people have no shot at being helped by the drug, but 0.6 in 10 *might* be in the hospital a couple less days if they get it. And she's saying, maybe we wait to give them this drug until we see how their case is progressing, instead of handing out $4000 packs of candy in the ER. Maybe that money could be, um, better spent?
And she's just getting started.
When a busy ER doctor takes time off to write a pissed off bullet list about billions being wasted, you know that the "treatment" in "treatment focused" is slathering on another layer of bullshit.
Next, we look at the economy, where "K" is the new letter.
It's looking like we're going down barcoded-Amazon-slave road.
If you're feeling better than ever, please keep reading.
Yes, that $600 a week and $1200 bonus and a month off of work was truly a taste of the good life.
Except, we're still out of work, and the money is gone.
Oh, and bankrupt democratic leaning states in the process.
This is the "backroom" senator turtle was talking about.
Well, good luck with that, congress just took off on vacation. Remember, when the Republican Administration says they want to bankrupt blue states, it's because once they do, the federal government can step in with the power of the purse and tell states what to do. In other words, they're trying to fuck California.
Now, in general, I think Governor Newsroom is a well-meaning ego maniac. When he was mayor of our city, he did a couple rad things: 1. Gay marriage. 2. Healthy SF, which was universal healthcare before Obamacare expanded Medicare.
He also did a little thing called "care not cash."
At one time not too long ago, the city had a UBI (universal basic income, at the time, they called it "welfare") of almost $400 a month.
Funny side story, when I first moved to the city, there was "mother's day" and "father's day" every month, when people would get their checks (men at the end of the month, women in the middle, or vice versa, I can't remember) and party hardy. (Anecdotally, of course, I'm sure not everyone was spending the money on booze.)
So how did it all work out? Did the $13 million taken from the irresponsible needy and given to helping, caring, services change our houseless situation?
Or, maybe, was that the lesson our governor learned?
Thinking of flying?
Only a 1 in 4,000 chance of getting a deadly virus?
Well, shit, Las Vegas has worse odds. Maybe it's time to book a trip.
But hmmm, Fauci ain't going anywhere soon.
Still, 800,000 travelers felt like they just had to be there. (Compared to 2.5 million the same day last year.)
What do you think? And what exactly are these travelers doing when they get to their destination? Visiting in backyards?
So now we've got a "K" shaped recovery, where the virus is out of control in poor communities, but the haves feel fine and are getting back to jetting around, while the have-nots are nervous, sick, and dying.
Sounds like America.
But we're not done.
How does Marion County, Florida compare to San Francisco County, California?
San Francisco has almost three times as many people.
And about the same number of cases.
But less deaths.
My guess is this sheriff will be walking this back once a couple deputies go down. But they already have 20+ infected guards in their jail, and 200+ infected prisoners, so maybe not.
Let's do a design critique here.
What do you think? "Blac vesm atter" is a helluva headline, but I can't really read the rest.
This is not a poster. This is the client's request put on a poster board, badly.
Alright, well, I promised you this would suck.
World's smallest surprise.
Man, I can't wait to see what the real "October surprise" is going to be.
And one to bring it back up.
At top is Boone.
Boone saves.
