157 what do you think?

Like everyone, I'm a little scared about losing our old way of life. But if coronavirus and wildfires and derechos and named storms in June and drought and flooding and sea rise and salt water intrusion aren't enough to get us to stop super polluting, maybe plain old bankruptcy will do the trick.

It's not like we don't know what we need to do.

 
Or who we need to back to get the political will to move into the 21st century.

Yeah, yeah, we need to beat the orange meanie. But Slidin' Right with Biden Tonight doesn't really have a ring, does it?

We can blame all this on W43, but O44 never shut down Guantanamo, and increased the number of conflicts we were involved in globally (remember the Arab Spring?). And T45, despite supposedly objecting to our violent agenda in the middle east, has upped the ante.

And the spending.

Let's take a closer look at that.

How do we pay for all those bombs? Debt, of course. (Borrowed largely from China, but we won't get into that right now.)

 But how does our spending in 2020 really compare? (Remember dear leader's 2 Trillion slush fund? And the year isn't over.)


But like I said, it's all make believe. Money isn't really worth anything. Other countries look up to the US and say, they are stable, this is the currency we want to use for our financial transactions. (And if we don't, they will bomb us.)

It's all a matter of faith in our leadership.

Don't worry, the picture isn't all bleak.

If we just pay attention to our phones.

They will tell us what to do.

We might have to check back a few times, though.

Breathing was easier today, but the smoke returned in the evening.


Since Deb flew to Florida to sit vigil for her dad, my brother thinks it's only fair that I fly to Massachusetts to help him with my mom's porch roof.

Where to start? With a drip. Due to a recent large bill for two pieces of plastic pipe and a valve, I have become interested in learning more about pex plumbing. Like many things in the US, this more efficient way of doing things is having a slow takeoff.  Why? At top, a bicycle built for golf. Mid-drive, even. Kinda spendy at $7k, but this is golf. Apparently they're selling.  We're talking about Bikes and Batteries today. This is a, um, what was this?  Right, a swappable battery.  Sounds a lot like a dorado battery with a new design. Having uniform parts between different manufacturers will help us consumers. (Imagine if your car only worked with one brand of gasoline.) So this thinking is in the right direction-ish. Throw a golf bag holder on the front and they could charge more. ;) There's gold in them thar batteries. (Or at least some rare earth minerals.) The question is, how do we get them out, and then back in?  At least we can haul them about in this.  It's funny how some designs look bad while others look good. 469 who spiked the corona?

Omicron is here. In less than a month, it has gone from zero cases in the US, to 73% of cases as of this past weekend. At top is San Francisco, below is New York State. The good news is, if you're vaccinated, you might not get too sick. The bad news is, there's a pretty good chance we're all going to get sick in this one. Here's NYC, where you can see omicron is making the curve from March 2020 look small. Or else, lockdown. I'm not a doctor, or an expert. Here's what I've picked up about omicron: 1. It is more transmissible . At least twice as easily spread as the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2. They say it's on the level of measles, the most easily spread virus we know. 2. It seems to have borrowed some tricks from the common cold.
