File under: all politics is a stageplay put on by Texas every four years

Last time, Dems ran on a platform of "avoid the bogeyman" and "everything is great" while dear leader ran on a message of "hate her" plus "I am the saviour."

This time, it a appears that Dems have upped the fear tactics, and the new message is "we're losing." Meanwhile, dear leader has chosen to go with "avoid the bogeyman" (he really likes the whole "I'm rubber, you're glue" concept) and, once again, "hate her," plus a dollop of "everything is great."

So dear leader hears someone spotted some people flying to protest the RNC, which has been done for every RNC since the advent of air travel, and he's decided that they are two box cutters short of hijacking the plane. Diamond encrusted, golden box cutters provided by shadowy wealth.

They're on a plane! Wearing black!

What money?

Yes, here are some of his backers, busy stopping the violence.

Why yes, that is a gun pointing at you from the back of that pickup truck. It was hidden a moment ago, but now it's shooting at you.

No, no, it's just paint!

They're defending themselves!

But this guy? Clearly an anarchist agitator!

And this guy? Who got called by some black men (guessing that's what happened next in the video, at least) for hitting a girl back in July, then went on a rampage of "self-defense" a month later?

But, but, was it really him?

Here's a peaceful, defensive action involving a five thousand pound vehicle and bear spray.

Really, guys, this has gone past fun and games. And while it might seem counter-intuitive, the thing to do at this point is GET RID OF YOUR GUNS.

Your gun will only get you into trouble. But what do you do if there's conflict?

Get away. Run. Stay away.

Been thinking about Spylania. Her big public effort is "Be best," an anti-cyber-bullying campaign. Of course, "best" is an opinion of judgement, implying someone is better than another. Judgement is, in essence, bullying.

My mom wanted to weigh-in on the whole "what technology will save our butts" talk.
Her plan is to replace surface traffic with an elevated tramway for solar-powered autonomous vehicles that provide private, point-to-point service. Basically, hanging packet switching for car-ish vehicles.
I've always been afraid her "jpods" might be ugly, but this clip from 120 years ago in Germany is kinda awesome.

And in the ground-based corner of the race to Youtopia...

The apple doesn't fall far from the elevated track.

Even the Chronicle is getting hopeful. Or desperate for an angle that says "good news."

Everyone who moves here thinks the city was wild when they got here, but now it's tame. No matter when they move here. So either we've been on a two hundred year slide toward boring (very possible) or people, um, grow up? And things don't look quite the same?

Dude, so many moving vans. Really. That's the truth.

This "hope" is much like the garden I'm working on with Deb right now. We've spent five days getting rid of everything in it. Right now, it looks like nothing. A blank slate.

But really, it's the blank slate we've been preparing. That's the hard work.

File under: we're getting there. Eventually.
Meanwhile, I didn't know our own "downtown" has been closed already! I'm gonna have to check out the mayhem!

While dear leader tries to say nothing happened, I have some very bad news about one of his voters.

And face shields.

And masks with valves.

N95s are pretty good. (And excellent at fogging your glasses.)

One brand of surgical masks was excellent.

Another, not as much. But still better than a shield!

Thanks to The Fabulous Lion for the meme at top. And remember, at least you didn't have a bath.
