File under: good smoke vs. bad smoke
The "Emerald Triangle" is on fire. Cannabis is California's number one cash crop.
While we have legal weed here, most growers operate outside of that system, with no crop insurance.
Meanwhile, the party running our government seems to be acknowledging they will be voted out in November, and so they're sandbagging the economy for the next administration, and will not pass any more stimulus.
(Is sandbagging the right word? That's what you do when there's a flood coming, and you want to be helpful. What is the opposite of that?)
Remember the DHSS spokesperson who went on the "buy ammo" rant over the weekend?
After a few months of trying his best to make a pandemic "magically disappear," he's taking a mental health break.
Which brings us back to the music of the Golden State.
Why isn't Bradley Nowell as famous as Kurt Cobain?
Do you know the story of Lou Dog?
Sadly, he outlived his human by about five years.
(A reminder: if you have a gun, get rid of it.)
Remember this guy?
The crazy vegan who predicted way back in March that Cov2 was spreading according to the weather?
Um, well, it turns out some researchers have been looking at the data, too.
And, uh, yeah, well, crazy vegans ain't so crazy after all...
So, here's my understanding of why "cold and flu season" is cold-and-flu-season.
Viruses are tiny. When you sneeze, or cough, or sing, or talk, or just breath them out, most get contained in droplets of mouth juice, for lack of a scientific term, and fall to the ground.
But the ones that don't, they float around in the air for a while, until they run into enough humidity to get wet and drop to the ground.
Winter is drier. Cold air doesn't hold moisture well. (Air conditioning is also drier.) Hence, the virus floats around longer without running into humidity, and more people catch colds and the flu.
So, yeah, next hot item on Amazon: humidifiers. Seriously. If you work around people, like a teacher or nurse, you might want to consider pumping up the H2O in your atmosphere this winter.

We had our first day without a hazardous air warning in four weeks yesterday.
The air over former Governor Moonbeam's ranch was still awful, tho.
Wildfires are part of nature. The severity of this fire season comes from several causes. Global warming is one. But he failed to mention what in my unscientific, unqualified view is the primary driver of local drought: water management.
When we filled in all the wetlands, cemented over the creeks, dammed all the rivers, and diverted all the water we could from its natural cycle into our plumb craziness, what the fuck did we think would happen?
"Geez, I turned off the tap, why is there no more water?"
Another one bites the du...do...dog?
Welcome to maskworld.
The photo at top courtesy a friend, we'll call them the Legal Ganja Farmer For Personal Use.
(P.S. congrats for finding today without FB) (PPS eh, I'm posting... Deb tells me the big FB blackout was started by Kim Kardashian. I'm down for a good protest, but not one started by billionaires.)
