239 ghillie suits, camouflaged bars, and other kinks

Walking down Market Street to the Farmer's Market. People are wearing masks blah blah blah blah blah blah. So it goes until we all get a shot from Pfizer.

There are definitely more people out walking. Boards are still up on buildings downtown, I guess Bank of America still thinks the election is disputed.

At top, behind a curtain of camo netting, the Orbit Room installed an outdoor venue. It's sort of hidden and secret feeling. It felt distinctly new and hip.

Below, speaking of camo, these two guys were taking military fashion to a new level.

Yes, that's a ghillie suit. Yes, he was getting a lot of attention. And amazingly, he rocked it.

That's just funny.

A bit close to home, maybe, but funny.

The next two months are going to be brutal.

Goodbye restaurants.

Hello Parler.

And Newsmax.

We're no longer happy with the media telling us their lies, we want to hear our own lies, damnit!

Why are conservatives moving away from Fox? Because this was their cover story yesterday.

Not nearly enough mention of dear leader's latest scam!

His former fixer is predicting he won't need to be kicked out of the WH.

Why?
Because it will work much better with his sense of victimhood.

Plus, it turns out begging for money from Americans is even easier than borrowing it from mobsters.

Unfortunately, his base isn't doing as well as Joe's.

B46 won just under 500 counties, T45 won about 2500. Here they are, sized according to their contribution to GDP.

If land could vote...

Oh wait, it does. It's called the electoral college.

Well, at least we won't have to argue it out with family over Thanksgiving.

If we're still in touch.

I guess I'll have to find some of my relatives on Parler.

File under: indulge me

This is the new BMW flagship electric, the iX. BMW is the brand other car designers look to for inspiration. This design, I would say, is a step backward for them. It takes the design they had established for their electric vehicles, dials it down and tries to make it look more traditionally crossover.

This was the first gen. That D-pillar with the glass-around-the-back notch effect was a hugely popular new design element, on the level of the hofmeister kink. They kept it in the new design, but just barely.

Meanwhile, Volvo copied it.

So did Nissan.

And Hyundai.

And GMC. And...

Here's the original. (Actually, it was on a 2002 or something along those lines.)

It's on every BMW car, and now an awful lot of Hondas, Infinitis, Jaguars, and here and there throughout the auto design world.

Will someday an explorer from a distant galaxy find a car scrap yard and wonder about the evolution of these beasts?

Will they see each car model as a distinct species, or will they recognize they're all part of a slowly changing family?

Finally, another comet.

This one isn't as bright as Neowise, but it has a really easy to find "landmark" to help point it out.

Just above the belt of Orion, one of the easiest constellations to find. You'll need a dark sky and binoculars, though.
