251 thinking about other things

Above, another zoom rehearsal for "The Death of Natalie Wood." We have picked up Michael Perez to play "the actor" and I'm looking forward to the livestream this Sunday the 29th at 7pm, on the 29th anniversary of her death. Check back here for the link to watch this hour long free performance.

More from the new tablet. Not at all sure where it's going, but thinking my move away from paper is going to require reimagining some very old, familiar patterns. I haven't figured out how to get really sloppy and loose in a digital format.

My guess is at some point soon I probably won't be sharing the developmental thinking, but for right now, I'm just putting it all out there.

Inputting my poems for the year is an easy task to get familiar with the keyboard.

Unfortunately, like most things, I'm faced with a series of compromises.

Still, overall, I'm pretty happy to have a larger screen again, and surprisingly ok that it's not branded Apple.

Report from the Vendee Globe. Alex Thompson lost the lead as he slowed down to fix his damaged boat. The self-control of these sailors is incredible. He is in the middle of the ocean, alone, at night. He breaks something, doesn't know what it is. He's in the lead, but has to slow down.

What does he do? Calls in the problem, then promptly goes to sleep. He knows he's not going to come up with a solution by himself.

That's an insane amount of self-control. Every instinct in your body, I'm sure, is telling you to fight like hell. Fix it. Make things right.

No, it's nap time.

When I started writing everyday about the coronavirus lockdown, I did it because I didn't know what the fuck was going on.

This was a time of serious unknowns.

We had clown-car leadership taking us on a high-speed chase. It felt like it was going to get bad, and it did. People died. People are still dying.

But thankfully, the non-leadership aspect seems to be winding down. And as it does, I'm feeling like resting my vigilance a little bit, and opening up my focus to rest other places.

Not sure exactly what that means for this blog. I enjoy putting my thoughts out there, but now hopefully I'll be  thinking about some other stuff more.

Like 2020s top inventions. Masks that do more, duh.

Live stream switching. If I still had a computer...

This thing picks up the signals sent from your brain to your jaw as you think about saying a command. It's 90% accurate.

This tune has been following me all pandemic.

Yesterday morning, from the top of Twin Peaks.
