Didn't really take any screencraps or any photos yesterday.

Just this one. Back in the early days of the pandemic, when I was watching this number closely, it was about 30 per day.

On our modern gods The other day my brother and I were talking about current events. Somehow, the old notion of "tv is the new god" came up.  That was a popular idea a few years ago, that television had replaced religion as the place where we get our values. But TV has been dethroned by the phone, so the question came up, is the phone the new god? But then there's the old god, which isn't the oldest god, and seems to be holding strong as the meter for what's appropriate behavior for some people. A lot of people. And that line of thinking gave me some fresh insight into our current world.  See, here's the thing. Let's set aside right/wrong/true/untrue for a minute, and examine mind control through the ages. 614 martial law might not look like what you think

When martial law arrives, it might not look like what we think. Sometimes I like to remove the labels to see what might be really going on.  Our language has a strong control over our thoughts. How we see the world around us is "framed" by the language we use to describe it.  Language is coded with all of the good and bad of human culture: Euro-centrism and scarcity, equality and abundance. Which words we pick change our impression of the world we are witnessing.  "A missionary spreading the good news to unsaved souls" sounds a lot different than "a foreign cult leader poisoning innocent minds." But they're both describing the same thing. When we remove the labels, we might not see the truth, but maybe we get a bit closer. Or attempt to.  "An outsider attempting to convince a group that they're wrong and their right" is another way of describing the missionary's situation, but it removes the labels of religion and national...
