284 petroleum is better for making plastic anyway

Our internet is down. So we had the cozy, quiet evening I needed.

Of course, after about an hour, I opened a ticket with the help desk. Over the years, I've learned that's the thing to do. It doesn't necessarily turn the internet back on any quicker, but I can tell Deb that they know about it.

On average, I fricking love our ISP. Because we're wireless, occasionally bad weather will mess with an antenna. That's my guess what happened now.

And look at that, they got back to me same day, on a holiday weekend. Looks like they need to climb a roof in our neighborhood.

This bill. Arrrgh. Central planning. Arrrgh. They set out to give Uber drivers protections.

But Uber quickly backed a bill to get out of it, and now small business, arts groups, and gig workers like freelance Santas and gardeners are screwed. And no, after the proposition passed to get Uber and Lyft into a loophole, the statehouse didn't go back and look at the original bill. Thanks. Great work!

(Could I have done any better? Maybe. My thought? Aim the original legislation at the intended target, not everyone.)

What do we know? An RV, a recording, a bomb. AT&T down.

Who? Why?

The car off the cliff on Xmas, I get. Suicide gone wrong. But this? It's uncertain if anyone was in the vehicle. Outside of that, there were no fatalities.

Accelerationist? Pissed at AT&T? Pissed at phones in general?

Just plain old run of the mill American crazy?

So it's looking like Dear Leader is either:

A. pissed at Senator Turtle
B. Attempting to create a power vacuum by shutting down the government
(The timing works so that he can sit on this bill through the end of this congress and they can't override. This is called a "pocket veto.")
C. Stalling, obfuscating, and attempting to get attention
D. All of the above

On the plus side, it seems like most of us have gotten over the idea that wearing a mask is something embarrassing and submissive that they force you to do in authoritarian countries. Most of us.

Petroleum is really better for making plastic anyway.
