291 mutants among us
Well, I took a lot of screencraps yesterday. There were basically two big stories.
The mutated virus. Which isn't necessarily more deadly, but the rumor is it spreads more easily among kids.
It took about three months after detection in September for it to become the dominant strain in the UK. It's now in 30 countries. Despite a travel ban.
It may pile up in your nose.
Or it's more "sticky."
The other big story was about how Cred Boost... I'm sorry... Toad Roost... No, that's not it... Bled Booze... No... Shmed Lose? Anyway, some Senator with lips that look painted by rimming, has announced, two months after the election, that two weeks before the inauguration, it's time for a special investigation, based on no evidence but bloviation.
My guess is these people got elected by going full-Grump.
The new (old) tactic is, repeat the lie in committee until it becomes news, regardless of any facts. To be fair, the Mueller report was also an investigation. But unlike Hillary's emails, people actually went to jail from that one.
"But her emails..."
"But his laptop..."
Will there be consequences?
And then I did a little looking into Robinhood.
Are these new day traders really moving markets?
Probably not. So what is Robinhood all about?
People looking for penny stocks with an upside.
And maybe some THC. This got me to thinking, if I was going to pick a couple stocks to invest in, what would they be?
At which point, I realized, I don't really have any idea. What stocks did best last year? This freelance-gig-marketplace was number one.
Tesla makes like half a million cars per year, compared to GM's 6 million.
My teenage brother-in-law's Xmas gifts were all from Etsy, including the ring he bought himself.
And rounding out the pack, uh, was Goliath.
And his new cousin.
But that's not the only story with Robinhood. There's this story of the kid who stepped in front of a train because of their UI.
He saw the screen above, wrote the note below, and was gone.
By Monday, the app would have updated to show he was fine. Whoops.
Just a couple more to go. Met up with friends who own a rental unit the other day. Their tenants of four years are moving out, into a two bedroom so they have a home office. My friend expects the rent will have to go down by about a third to attract a new tenant.
Which seems to line up with this news clip.
Some idiot out there will look at this and say, "what? See! Cov2 is no big deal!"
You know what's a big deal? How many of those are in the past twenty years.
Facemasks, get used to it.
And finally, after mentioning her yesterday, I had to listen.
It wasn't bad.
At top, a chart from friend Professor Garp.
