295 seeing the burning bush

Walking to the Farmer's Market yesterday, I saw this Christian tree fire.

The trees went out pretty quickly on their own, but the TV continued to burn. This pattern continued through the day.

If I saw the news about our capitol yesterday coming from any other country, I would say, 'Hmm, that government is having trouble,' or maybe, 'Hmm, that government isn't going to last long.'

I spent most of the day yesterday working on the script for the musical. (Well, and streaming news.) One of Mark Twain's more famous quotes is, "When you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect."

At first, watching NBC, I found myself waiting for the police response. Then I switched over to a livestreamer, who was actually inside the building.

There were cops inside, standing by, the whole time.

Personally, I think they did the right thing by not responding violently.

The crowd was, by and large, a bunch of looky loos. A boomer bloodbath from a gunfight at the capitol would not be playing any better in today's headlines, and would very likely have delayed the congress from getting their job done, which they finally got around to doing last night.

Watching that bit of prime time grandstanding, I can tell you, there will be no impeachment or 25th amendment in the next two weeks. They're still arguing over whether to argue.

(Let's hope I'm wrong.)

So, how did we get there? I didn't see it coming, but it's not my job to protect the capitol.

(this from an assistant to one of the congresspeople who attended dear leader's rally in the morning)

Apparently, the DHS decided that after a year of crazy turmoil, and with a president actively encouraging people to march on the capitol, that policing DC is the mayor's job. I shit you not.

So, yeah, what are we gonna do? Two weeks. He's still in office.

The Senate and VP are walking away from him.

The House, not so much.

(FYI, capital is money. The building is a capitol.)

These words were flying around during the after-party. Dear elected officials, god is fictional. On top of that, the capitol is not a church. Get over the baloney. If you want the truth, stop lying. Even to yourselves.

One thing we know for certain, one person enjoyed the show.

In the end, I think my cousin the Couch Comedian got it right:

Oh, I'm pretty sure we'll make it to see how the next four years play out. The stage play put on by Texas every four years got the Netflix, "pump up the drama and shorten the season" treatment, but I don't think Darth Grumper is going to pilot his Ty fighter all the way back to the Death Star.

So now Democrats have the house and senate, are we going to get universal healthcare?

No, we're getting Joe Biden. And maybe some campaign finance reform. Maybe.

Here's a company I looked into maybe ten years ago, when Warren Buffett invested $100m.

Their stock is up 400% this year. As sales have gone down 11%. No speculative bubbles here, people.
For every Amazon, Google and Facebook, there are several Webvans, Excites, and Friendsters.

After all of that, dancing was very necessary.

Meanwhile in Florida, congrats to my step-sis, a nurse.

Update: and buffalo bill is the first doxed

Hmmm... An actor. Let the conspiracy theories fly.

Who has a history of paying people to protest?
