302 that great big hill of gold

There have been coyotes in Glen Canyon park the last two times we've been there before grocery shopping, so yesterday morning we opted to take a walk around the nearby neighborhood of Gold Hill instead.

It's kind of a foggy, hidden, nowhere place. But...

There's a community pool. Not super huge, but color me jealous. It looks open, even, whereas our city pools have been closed for, uh, 301 days.

There was toilet paper up there, too, unlike some other parts of the city.

Listened to some new music from the Black Pumas.

And danced, I think this is the Big Little Lies theme song?

And a snippet of video. I'm putting this up mainly to see how blogger handles video. You can't upload one through the app, only the website. And it rejected my first try as too large a file.

Most of my working yesterday was on the musical. It's pretty exciting how far it has come since we last went up on stage. I have no idea how, but I think it will happen again this year.

And from the capitol...

One of the things I've been curious about is who paid for the stage. You have to hire union people to put something like that up, and pay for permits, and probably for some cops. It ain't cheap, I'm guessing into the hundreds of thousands.

So where did the money come from?

A guy named Ali Alexander was the organizer, on paper.

He claims he planned it with three congress people, they deny. One thing I know, you don't get the president of the US to roll out for just any overturned apple box.

But Ali doesn't appear to have that kind of cash. So who paid?

Oh, PACs. Duh. Which have been designed to make sure we can't follow the money.

And more from the capitol...

I'm sure the PTSD is awful for the capitol police. Is that why an officer committed suicide last weekend?

Yikes.

Seriously, it is kind of annoying hearing these super-partisan backstabbers calling for "unity." Too little, way too late.

Or perhaps you've heard, we had a coup attempt last week.

No, really. What would you say if you saw these pictures from anywhere else?

Nothing to see here. Just business as usual.

Meanwhile, somewhere south of the equator...

The red boat on the left is the leader. After 20,000 miles of sailing, he's just 30 miles ahead.

The white boat on the right is last place. He's the guy who did the rescue of the cape of good Hope. He's due a time correction of nine hours or something, which is less than the gap to the leader. (Who is also getting a time correction, so we'll see.) Anyway, it's close.

And a couple off the tablet. Took a different approach and started with b&w.

This is a "6b pencil." It looks a lot like a 6b pencil.

Then I smudged everything around with, I dunno, some kinda flat brush from the smudging pallette.

Finally, I added a wash of color to a background layer, and a couple highlights in a foreground layer. It's ok. I kinda like step one best.

Be safe, everyone.
