Adios, Fuckface. I listened to his goodbye speech yesterday, it was an attempt to rewrite history. You know, put a final spin on things. Like a smooth talking salesman.


The one thing I was going to say I agree with him about is his pride in starting no new wars. That's great, really it is. But then I think about our domestic situation, and how many people are calling it a "cold civil war," and I guess he's lying about that, too.

The Bannon pardon really shows how the whole wall idea was just a scam. Hell, the whole running for office thing was a scam. It was never about a wall, or immigrants, it's just a dumb talisman for holding hate and fear and grubbing up some free money.

So now we move into the era of seeing if Democrats have grown any balls.

It took a while, but I don't feel so lonely wearing a bandana these days.


So the virus is mutating. It turns out the British variation is far from the only one. This one, L452R, has become 25% of California cases. One month ago, it was 4%.

Apparently, this is pretty common with coronaviruses. And the more people get it, the more it will vary, until it's totally out of control, and we start calling it "seasonal" this or that.

With about ten days to go, the Vendee Globe is anyone's race. 

I've been seeing this name, Substack, associated with some writers I like. So it was time to check it out.

It's all about newsletters. Hmmmm. While I publicize this blog on Twitter and Facebook, I think most readers come off FB, which is a dying platform. Maybe it's time to make a move to push content on a different platform.

Well, after one week of unity, the turtle is back to being an obstructionist. 

And geography and some leftover slave-owner hijinks are helping him out.

Boy, writing "slave-owner" was a bit difficult. We need better words for humans who exploit other humans. Using their old terms is letting them off way too easily.

Where to start? With a drip. Due to a recent large bill for two pieces of plastic pipe and a valve, I have become interested in learning more about pex plumbing. Like many things in the US, this more efficient way of doing things is having a slow takeoff.  Why? Because existing building codes, laws created by localities, have been slow to change, sticking with the tried and true rather than adapting to new technology. This is true on many fronts. At top, a bicycle built for golf. Mid-drive, even. Kinda spendy at $7k, but this is golf. Apparently they're selling.  We're talking about Bikes and Batteries today. This is a, um, what was this?  Right, a swappable battery.  Sounds a lot like a dorado battery with a new design. Having uniform parts between different manufacturers will help us consumers. (Imagine if your car only worked with one brand of gasoline.) So this thinking is in the right direction-ish. Throw a golf bag holder on the front and they could charge more. ;) There's gold in them thar batteries. (Or at least some rare earth minerals.) The question is, how do we get them out, and then back in?  At least we can haul them about in this.  It's funny how some designs look bad while others look good. In my eye, that's a pretty good looking box for moving other boxes.  ...

469 who spiked the corona?

Omicron is here. In less than a month, it has gone from zero cases in the US, to 73% of cases as of this past weekend. At top is San Francisco, below is New York State. The good news is, if you're vaccinated, you might not get too sick. The bad news is, there's a pretty good chance we're all going to get sick in this one. Here's NYC, where you can see omicron is making the curve from March 2020 look small. Or else, lockdown. I'm not a doctor, or an expert. Here's what I've picked up about omicron: 1. It is more transmissible . At least twice as easily spread as the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2. They say it's on the level of measles, the most easily spread virus we know. 2. It seems to have borrowed some tricks from the common cold.
