364 is really 365

It was number 196, last September. It appeared twice. So this is number 365. One year in lock down, plus a day, because I publish the day before on the day after, kinda.

Yesterday I went to the Farmer's Market. It's feeling pretty normal to wear a mask and walk through quieter, boarded up streets. It's going to be fascinating to see what's next.

Looking back at entries from the early days of the pandemic, when masks were not recommended, holy shit! Although I see that I referenced wearing masks in the post I started a week before lockdown, so it was on the radar. Man, that was a big hurdle to get over, wearing a mask. I still don't wear one all the time outside, but I certainly have gotten comfortable with wearing them in general.

A couple weeks ago I wondered what mural was going up.

Here it is, an ad for a Van Gogh exhibit inside. Is this some sort of Instagram museum? It's at the old Honda dealer, once the Fillmore West.

Speaking of cars, spotted my first example of the highly anticipated new Ford Bronco. This car has been generating buzz for years, with prototypes and spy photos and sneak previews. I was excited to see one.

And then I saw one. At first, I thought it was a new Ford Escape, because that's what all the spy-photos didn't tell us. It looks like a rebadged Escape. Probably because it is a rebadged Escape. Oh well. I mean, not that the Escape is a bad vehicle or anything, but I just sort of thought the new Bronco might be tougher than a Jeep Renegade. I was wrong.

While we're on the subject of cars, there was a power outage that shut off the traffic lights at 16th and Market. It was kind of awful how many people steamed through the intersection like no lights meant green light.

After Deb got her new truck, she began wondering if she could turn it into an electric. I said no.

I was wrong. Although these components are meant for manufacturers to have an easier path to create new EVs, I imagine in a few years there might be a retrofit kit. It's not as easy as the picture might make you think, but the pieces will be available.

A couple years ago I bought a solar charger for my phone. At the time, you had two basic options. Buy a backup battery, or buy a solar panel. Two years later, the prices of both have come down, and they've been integrated into one unit.

As you can see, I really did some deep thinking about what a year in lockdown did to me today.

Be safe, stay sane, howl at the moon.
