377 local heroes

Above is one of the three local lupine species which are the only place the endangered Mission Blue butterfly lays eggs. Living between 600 and 1000 feet in elevation, there are colonies on six Bay Area ridges, and that's it. As far as I can remember, I have yet to see one.

I believe this is a Douglas Iris, also a local native. According to wikipedia, they grow most commonly below 100 feet in elevation, but I've only ever seen them up in the hills. I guess that's because most everything lower is not native. It's been gardened.

This looks to me like a wild strawberry. Any opinions?

Also not sure about this one.

Or this one.

This, of course, is the California Poppy, our state flower. Picking one is a crime. Or something like that.

And here's the whole peach "bush." Really lovely blossoms.

Can we take a minute to talk about ring lights? This was happening before the pandemic, but like many things, the trend got accelerated. The ring light is the hip accessory for zooming.

The problem is, nobody is using them right. The whole point of a ring light is you put the camera lens right in the middle of it. When you do, it eliminates all the nose shadows on your face.

If you place it off to the side, or above the lens, you might as well be using a flat panel of LEDs.

There you have it. You might feel on trend with your fancy light, but all you're demonstrating is your lack of photographic knowledge.

Well, glad I got that off my chest.

Has the EV speculation peaked?

Is that the sound of a bubble popping?

Who knows? They're still going diamond hands for GME.

This company has been going a while, I remember checking them out when I was researching Self-Driving Mystery a few years ago. At the time, it may have been pedal-only. But now there's a 750w motor.
At $13k, I would call it very expensive.

And about the Squatterforce Tower...

Apparently there's a feed called "Just The Tip" where people post pictures where the only identifier of downtown SF is the tower.

Benioff deleted his retweet of it after he realized it was a dick joke.

One thing I know for sure: Something will happen.

Be safe & smell a flower.
