383 around the lake
We went for a hike around Pinecrest Lake. Now would probably be a good time to go on a rant about California's water use, but I'm out of rant right now.
There are cabins all along the lake, on leased National Forest land. Lots of the cabins had boats outside, chained to trees for the winter. The laser was the most popular sailboat I saw.
The lake was made by damming the Stanislaus River. This used to be a popular spot for strawberry picking, back when it was a Mi-Wuk hangout.
The evidence of the last ice age is all around.
It is truly amazing what 100,000 years of ice can do.
Crossing the river required caution.
As a kid, I would have been hopping across those rocks.
As an adult, we walked up to the bridge.
We're off to get our second jabs today. Be safe everyone!
