428 summer projects

It is looking increasingly likely I'm heading up north for a few weeks to help get a house ready for my mother-in-law.  She has been living on her own in Oregon, and we're hoping to move her closer to Deb's sister.

The house is a double-wide mobile home, built in 1976. It's pretty original inside, plus about 45 years of use.

We've seen the inspections and talked over what needs to happen with our in-laws, but we don't totally have a game plan for the renovation yet. We want to keep our costs down, as there is a limited upside in reselling "manufactured" homes. But we also want to make it nice.

Will we gut the kitchen and go with all new (and used) stuff, or do we fix what's here and repaint? It's hard to know from this distance. We'll head up there in about a month and figure it out.

We have a tight budget, so we have to make smart choices.

Like, uh, maybe replacing the cabinet pulls before the countertops and stove? I dunno, just an idea. But now I get to put my words in action.

Lots and lots of action.

Fortunately for you guys, I think I'm going to dust off the old documentary skills and vlog the transformation! With videos hopefully a bit better than this one.

Thank you for the miracle happening in our lives.
