440 up up & away
Well, I guess the pandemic is over.
Ok, ok, not really. But we're flying, for non-"essential" reasons.
Although we are wearing masks. Why? I think it's just easier than trying to determine who is vaccinated or not. Playing it safe. All around.
That's fine, but I can't see anything.
If you're reading this and thinking, it's a no-no to post that you're going out of town, I'd agree with you, but we have a housesitter, so whatever.
The airport is still ridiculous. The modern information age doesn't seem to have made this process any easier. From the dozen texts and emails I got from the travel app telling me my itinerary changed, when it only changed once, to the online check-in boarding pass that sent us to the entirely wrong terminal, only corrected by looking up our flight on the big screen, then hustling to another terminal, this ain't quite working.
Honestly, it was easier to dip my credit card into an e-ticket machine. And at the end of it all, we still had to get paper tickets printed at the gate.
I'm wearing a fashion mask. After fifteen months of pandemic, I still don't have an N-95 without a valve. And we totally forgot hand sanitizer. I haven't seen any at the airport, until just now, when I looked up and saw there's some right by the entry to the gate.
Hopefully no one on our plane has sniffles.
When our housesitter showed up yesterday, he and his fiance were wearing masks, outside. They're both fully vaccinated, but only recently.
Standing talking with them outside, masked, I realized just what a shocker we're in for. We're going to Florida. I'm kind of expecting to walk out of the airport and into 2019.
So far, I don't like flying any better.
