461 sleeping with whales

Above is picture of sleeping whales. I forget which kind. It was only recently discovered that (at least some) whales sleep this way, in a group, vertically.

The health of an ecosystem can be determined by the size of the largest animals living in it. Whales, a mammal, moved from the land to the sea about 50 million years ago.

They were hunted to near extinction by some "smart" monkeys, who first stood on their hind legs about 60 million years ago.

Or two Earth "heartbeats."

We're so smart, we decided to bake up some new living conditions on our one precious globe.

It hit 112 degrees Fahrenheit where I've been for the past few weeks.

Close to thirty people in the nearest big city died of the heat.

The ice comes, the ice goes.

Last time the ice came, New York City was under a sheet two miles thick. Before that, most of the Eastern seaboard was under water.

And that's just the surface of it.

Now, way way up on the surface, the "smart" monkeys have invented this fantasy called money.

And a few of them have collected it all. They dole it out in small amounts to get the rest of us to do what they want.

But not everybody is like that. Some people recognize the system for what it is, and decide to have a go at something else.

Ever wonder where the word "North" comes from?

The Viking god of weather.

And "Norway" is simply, "the way north" to us franco-anglers.

Then there's this...

It looks like SF is having a little pandemic amid the vaccinated hordes. I guess that hockey stick over there to the right is what happens when twenty-five percent of people get back to "normal", sans jab.

For reference, here's a day when we were in the worst of it, last winter.

Is it the Delta variant?

Yes. And no.

That screenshot is about two weeks old, where are we at now?

Oh. Where will we be in October?

Getting another jab, duh. Not sure how any of this will pan out for the musical.

The current plan is a run next spring. Let's cross our fingers and get vaccinated.

We just keep learning.

And learning.

And learning.

And learning.

And learning. Have you heard that people in Afghanistan have learned to turn a local, formerly worthless flower, into meth? It allows them to skip the whole "cough medicine" step.

But at least some of the "smart" monkeys have hoarded enough money to try and get off the planet. Think it will work? Their internet does.

Personally, I'd rather sleep like a whale.
