473 a walk to the farmer's market

I'm walking to the farmer's market. It is 22 months, nearly 2 years later.

The parklets are looking pretty well finished. Gates up front, practical gates,  roofs over. Businesses aren't boarded up. Except for the one realtor that's been closed this whole time looking for a new tenant. And one other retail space I see. Maybe two other retail spaces. And one retail space has a smashed window that's been boarded up and has a nice painting over it.

So yeah, there's that. Plenty of boarded up and painted over windows.

Deb says there was less traffic around the city yesterday. It was a Tuesday after a long weekend in January. Generally kind of slow.

They say one 1 in 20 people in Marin county, the most vaccinated county in the Bay Srea, 1 and 20 people have omicron right now.

If you can get a hundred people together in a space you're going to have five positives. People are generally not wearing masks on the sidewalk. The new mask of fashion is a black cone N95.

I have a white cone N95 I'll wear when I get to the farmer's market.

Starting right in front of the Safeway on market Street, I passed the bunch of people wearing masks on the sidewalk. Seems like the closer I get to downtown, the more people have been exposed?

The cafe that has struggled to stay open through the pandemic has a pretty good crowd in their outdoor tables right now. Five parties. I didn't notice if the indoor dining was open or occupied.

Civic Center and pretty much everybody is masking up outside. Not the people that are lingering. Not all of them.

My mask will go on in the next block.

Everybody at the farmer's market is masking up. Mostly not fashion masks, either surgical masks or N95.

There's the guy playing zen music and the guy playing steel drums.

Despite my feeling of a covid frenzy upon arrival, I was able to relax by the time I was done shopping.

And feel a little bit of that farmer's market vibe.

It was a little bold last time when I said most votes on the right were based on racism.

But only a little.

It's not easy living in a bubble.
