475 a better world is happening, continued
Welcome to another edition of Wake Blake, where we look at screencraps from my phone. What's up this time?
We can start here, with the future of housing.
Can you imagine a city where the parking spots have been filled with micro-units like these? I can.
That bathroom looks pretty rad. It's basically a toilet in a shower stall, like what you might have in a boat. And above the toilet is a tiny washer/dryer.
And a little on Coronavirus. Here are some charts of the excess deaths the past couple years.
You can see the omicron variant is nothing like the earlier strains, although maybe that's because of so many vaccinated people.
The fact that we're still making young kids wear masks everywhere baffles me.
I can tell you this with some certainty: if kids under five could vote, they would be enjoying mask-free recess.
Basically, kids are like pets... Somebody else has to notice they are in distress, and speak up for them.
Because they don't necessarily know how to do it themselves.
On the other hand, this is still serious business.
Especially if you're in a nursing home, where they think about a quarter of the US's covid deaths have occurred.
Why?
Tourism is still in the tank.
Downtown and Fisherman's Wharf have been hardest hit.
Remember, when they say "Biden Inflation" you say "Grump Robbery."
Oh hell, maybe just call it panic spending.
And then there's the idea that climate change is actually what's making things more expensive.
A better world is happening.
