476 second place is winning
Welcome back to more edge-of-your-seat, can't-look-away news from the world of emobility.
At top and below is a picture of the Wuling Honguang, currently the number two selling electric vehicle on Earth. It sells for about $4-5k in China, where almost all of them are sold.
There's a company with a plan to import them to the US, where they'll sell for $16k, which turns out to be about $6k if you're able to take advantage of tax credits. Two doors, four seats, 100 mile range.
It's nice to see a short-range EV with it's priorities straight: easy to park, big enough to haul your family and no bigger, all mod cons, shelter from the weather, and not much bloat. It could be smaller and more efficient, but guys, this is the number two selling EV on Earth! And it's not a Hummer!
There is supposedly a solid-state battery being tested in China.
I say supposedly because, well, this is based upon their press release, and this photo of an older model car that supposedly has the tech installed. (Perhaps the red ribbon is some sort of cooling device?)
They're using that older, reliable model because they're testing out the tech in taxi cabs.
Meanwhile, in the USA.
If that wasn't enough to get your blood boiling, how about this?
Coming soon to a mountain near you (if you live in Eastern Europe) is this combo of two big trends: ebikes and tiny homes. This is a bike rental business on a trailer. Pretty sweet.
Now imagine if they could get a container full of these Cyberbike Mullets. Oh, wait, they're selling out again! It seems like somebody else might notice there is a hot, hot market for a sub $3k mid-drive decent component e-mtb.
We're all connected...
Keep the rubber side down, and the battery charged!
