535 invasion of the dorkmobiles

Once again, I find myself unsure what to write about. The Flood is getting turned into an ebook, I'm illustrating a friend's story about Tongva, the native tribe of Southern California, and I've had a few ideas for what story to tell next, but nothing I've actually been compelled to start.

So here's another Bike & Battery, although I really don't have much content, just these screencraps of a video about different three and four wheeled ebikes.

But of course I didn't note down any details, so we're basically just looking at pictures together.

Still, that's kind of a cool picture. This buggy looks like it has a decent suspension, at least up front. And a solar panel roof. And like maybe it's zippy.

Here's another solar panel roof. It's fun to see certain elements starting to repeat themselves. Solar roofs. Fat tires. Multiple motors.

And it's super awesome to see that multiple makers are all kinda going after the same idea: micromobility with protection from the elements.

IMHO, they're pretty cute, too. Now, cute is a step off of "I want that" but it's a step in the right direction.

And most of them feature pedals! Although on some, you can keep pedaling even when you're stopped, all the pedals are doing is generating electricity.

Three wheels is a popular starting point for designs, too. Less rolling resistance, similar levels of stability.

Lots of these are being designed in Europe, where ebikes are limited to 250watt motors. They still get around just fine.

Quicker than the bus, of course.

"Virtue?" Marketing knows no end to ass kissing.

We've seen this one before. The use of fabric walls is great, it's basically a tent on a bike frame. Innovative thinking like that is exciting, even if the ride is a bit dorkster.

This one looks pretty slick, in an Invasion of the Body Snatchers type way. It looks like it's called a "Carcle." Kinda fun. Also, kinda dorky.

Here's an e-moto I spotted on the street, I don't think it looks dorky at all. That looks pretty tough!

Alright, well, enjoy the day.
