551 out with the old, in with the old

Recently, San Francisco Mayor London Breed announced a pivot.

With downtown office vacancies at 25%, and only 40% of the number of people using the existing leased offices as pre-pandemic, she figures we need to change who we're marketing downtown to.

So we now need to start appealing to bio-tech companies. I guess the thinking there is workers have to commute to an office in order to use specialized lab equipment.

There is a new type of residential development happening, where part of a building is residential, and part of it does have specialized live-work arrangements like that.

But that's not what she's looking for. She wants the old style, two hour plus commute. But we the people have resolutely spoken, with our butts. We're staying put. So what can a city faced with an epic housing shortage do with all that empty space?

Even Musky gets it, in his assholish rich guy way. We can make housing!!

Has anyone else noticed "I appreciate you" is the catchphrase of 2022?

It's funny, because it's a total turnaround for the phrase. If you look at the Urban Dictionary, circa 2012, the same phrase was being used ironically to say, "F-U."

Yes, please.
