558 solid-state self-driving shit-talking

In the effort to move, I've been going through some of my old papers, and mostly throwing them away. These are the gems of ideas I've been writing down for thirty years.

Why throw them away?

Because I'm never going to read them, nevermind do anything about them. There are several big insights from this process:

1. If it's not worth finishing at the time, it likely won't be worth finishing in the future

2. You don't really forget the big ideas

3. Don't bother holding on to stuff you're not looking at

Man, those Buddhist monks with the sand mandalas are really onto something.

A couple years ago, I did make a change that is altering this scene. I stopped working on paper, largely, and started this blog. A tablet has allowed me to keep writing by hand, but no more stacks of paper. And the blog let's me put my thoughts out into the world.

Now, there's still a disconnect between the type of ideas I might jot down to develop further and the content of this blog, but they're getting closer and that is a step.

At top is the Frikar Podbike. It's self-driving. If only it was two wheels and self-balancing!

They're still a couple years away from manufacturing.

It's been predicted for a while that we're moving away from a power grid, into self-reliance. For better or worse. But these batteries will be a big part of the "for better" argument.

If we haven't figured it out yet, batteries are a growth business!

And NYC is once again failing to recognize the moment. Ok, well, they do have a point. Two hundred fires this year, six deaths, mostly caused by people customizing scooters.

The safety issue aside, this tells me there's a lot of interest in hot rodding EVs.

So there's that downside. No news about how many pedestrians have been killed by cars in NYC this year, but you can sure as hell bet it's way more than 6, and yet the car ban is nowhere near being on the table. Think about that.

Clear solar panels are coming!

Yeah, I don't know about that headline. And there's been an all-in-one hub motor/battery ebike conversion kit available for years now.

Need to run this one by my brother-in-law to get his opinion. The big difference? A 750 watt mid-drive motor (most of the big manufactures use 250watts, legal in Europe) and a throttle.

On the plus side, if you think replacing cars with more cars is a plus, EV sales in the US doubled last year... Up to about 1% of the total. (Now 4% globally.)

There sure are a lot of fun looking moped type ebikes out there these days. This one has two batteries for a range up into 50 miles plus.

Rubber side down!
