616 change and the unknown, on the road
How do I illustrate this argument for you? With screenshoots, of course.
And some irony. At top, you know, ebikes could be excellent if they just weren't so rascally. Those overpowered ebikes, they're the problem. Don't worry about my 400 horsepower grocery hauler getting 8mpg. It's the damn bike that can go 40mph we need to argue about!
Solid state batteries are starting to happen. Yes, that's an MG. The British brand. No, it's not made in England. Yes, China.
How does AI and robotics play into our transportation future? I don't know, but I'm pretty sure not with fossil fuels.
There's like an infinity of political hijinx I could be talking about in this space. But honestly, until we are willing to rethink and open up our infrastructure (and by that I mean come up with an alternative to individual car ownership) I'm pretty sure the USA is going to continue to decline.
See, we're riding around in the USS Unsustainability. It's got 4 wheels and weighs a couple tons. It can't turn very quickly. It can only go places that were designed for it. And until we can get out of it, we're stuck in the same rut. And it's not a happy rut. It's got obesity, diabetes, and heart disease mixed with angry propaganda, bills, and stewed in traffic. It tastes like impotence.
We could be changing our game, but the people in charge are older and like things the way they used to be.
But things aren't the way they used to be. There's no going back.
On the other hand, we could always embrace change. Lean in to the future. Recognize that we have learned a few things and can do better.
It's a lot to ask when all you want is a few acres and an F-150.
40% of America worked on farms in 1900. It's less than 2% now. And yet, all across this great continent, people living in rural areas keep wondering what is wrong with the economy.
And as we crawl along in yesterday's infrastructure listening to propaganda about how our political soap opera is the problem, can we start to grasp the picture?
What if we simply shared the road with some new ideas?
